A convenient onion base for soups, gravies and homemade seasoning blends.
How to use:
- Soup and stock: add early in cooking so the pieces soften.
- Buckwheat or rice: cook with the grains and carrot.
- Mushroom gravy: add to mushrooms with stock and simmer until the onion is soft.
- Bean patties: hydrate the onion first, drain excess water and mix into the patties.
- Seasoning: combine with paprika, dried garlic and herbs for roasted vegetables.
Tip: Allow dried ingredients to hydrate in cold sauces; in soups and stews, cook to your preferred softness. Add gradually to taste.
